Female Emperor Dragonfly laying eggs (Anax imperator)

I was out one day last summer, without my camera, and saw this gorgeous backlit image (similar to the above)...jewelled wings shimmering, as it hovered above a leaf laying its eggs.

I had to wait for another several days for sunshine, hoping that egg-laying was still happening, and that I would be able to shoot a similar image...well this is close, but the original was better, as it was hovering at the time, which added to the magic.
