Blackcap - female (Sylvia atricapilla)

Still a daily visitor to the garden - three weeks now, but frustratingly she only ever perches in the open when the weather is really dull.
Location
Back garden Billingham UK
Date taken
16th February 2007
Scientific name
Sylvia atricapilla
Equipment used
Canon 20D + Canon 400mm f5,6
This is a beautiful capture Ian! Love the composition in this photograph, the pose of the bird lines up beautifully with the angle of the flower stalks. Even with dull light you caught a great image.

Isn't it fun when you see the same bird visiting the garden over several weeks? I've got a little female Dark-eyed Junco that lost one foot sometme around that ice storm we had. She is still looking fine and I see her almost every day. I'm hoping if she's made it this long she'll be able to migrate along with the other birds come spring.

A lovely shot. I have a female occasionally visiting my garden but as yet I have only manged one pic straight into the light of this fast-moving species. Thanks for sharing.
