Scaup (Aythya marila)

A dull miserable morning but at least it wasn't as cold as it has been. I'd seen these earlier in the week from a distance but dismissed them as being female tufties. Today I got a better look after a friend said he'd seen some Scaup - sure enough they were - a first for my local patch. I think the one on the right looks as if its a hybrid though going by it's slight crest/tuft and larger bill tip marking. It's not a species you see much at all in this region.
