Locking Horns

Locking Horns (Fratercula corniculata)

Location
Resurrection Bay, Alaska
Scientific name
Fratercula corniculata
Equipment used
Handheld, Canon 1D MK4 with 400mm DO, f/5.6 @ ISO 1250
I like taking photos under challenging conditions. It is a test of my equipment and patience. This is one of them. I was on a boat in Resurrection Bay, just outside Seward. The weather was cold and gray, a steady light rain was on. The winds were about 15 knots and a dense fog drifted in and out. The Puffins were zipping by in and out of the fog. I was determined to lock horns with Mother Nature and the Horned Puffins and try and get a shot of them flying in and out of their burrows.

Yo, I'd say you did great. Those little guys are fast and catching them in flight is tough even on land, let alone rocking on a boat.

Considering the conditions you describe, Michael, this is a brilliant capture, well done.

:eek!: Sounds like an utter challenge of photography, WOW, you can be happy with your result, Mike, smashing flight shot, amigo!!! :t: :t:
