In my garden today in the rain and gloom. I was busy working from home and up he perched on a tree stump. I didn't see the run up to this but it rapidly transpired that he'd chased two small birds into shelter beneath a wooden box. Here he is looking down at the box and working out how he is going to get to them, but unfortunately for him when he made his move he flapped around one side of the box and they flew out of the other. While he was reasoning it out I grabbed my camera and took a few pictures out of a bedroom window. Too far away to see exactly what the small birds were but they looked liked like sparrows. I get both a male and a female coming in regular but they never stay in the same spot for more than a few seconds, so although the light wasn't good this is the best I've done with these birds by a long distance. Which reminds me, I was stood outside at about half five/six in the morning a few days back, just as it was getting light, and a sparrowhawk, probably a female, chased a blackbird right alongside me to the point they nearly hit me. The sparrowhawk literally was on its tail and the blackbird literally was flying for his life. 'Pretty sure the blackbird escaped.
