Tayra
Tayra (Eira barbara subsp. peruana: Mustelidae) These weasel-like mammals reach 60 cm (23.6 in) long with a tail that reaches another 45 cm (17.7 in) long. They range in weight from 2.7- 7.5 kg (6-16.5 lbs). There is only a single species belonging to the genus Eira but the species is represented by nine (9) subspecies. Photographed at Abra Patricia, Owlet Lodge, Amazonas Department, Peru. A tropical premontane forest (mid-elevation cloud forest) at ca. 2,000 m (6,562 ft) elevation.
