Whooping Cranes (Grus americana)

We saw a couple of these beautiful and once nearly extinct birds (down to 16) in Horicon Marsh, Horicon, Wisconsin late September 2008. Horicon Marsh is just south of Crex Meadow where they are trying to re-establish Whooping Crane numbers.
