    Gull Uk

    It looks like a normal Common Gull to me. I see thousands of these at my patch roost during the Winter and Spring and as with other species, there is variation. Males are also larger than females, so some can look quite big. I don't see any features that would point to a hybrid. Cheers, Adam

    tufted duck

    Hi Jono It looks like a fairly standard female Tufted Duck to me. The amount of white around the base of the bill is variable and I have some on my local patch with the same amount of white as your bird. Cheers, Adam

    I too have a list of CR birds, mainly gulls, from my patch in S. Bucks, but also the odd wader. What I find frustrating is the occasional lack of response from supposed ringers/scheme administrators which makes you wonder what the point of the original ringing was. I have several outstanding...

    Tern, south devon

    Sandwich would be the default tern this late in the year on the south coast, though there was a very late Roseate lingering in Dorset into the first week of November.

    Hi Jon It's definitely a Woodcock. I wonder whether it has damaged the tip of its bill after flying into say the window of your mother's house. Adam
