    Visited Sculthorpe for the redpolls , was told the arctic hadn't been seen , while we were there. On going through the photographs found this one which , I hope , shows the arctic redpoll , on the right , with the 3 common redpolls . Your comments would be very much appreciated . Thanks. alring

    Rafael , many thanks . I googled "Australian birds with rictal bristles" Fantails were not mentioned , but googling " Northern fantail" came up with the statement that it had rictal bristles sometimes as long or longer than the beak ! Regards alring

    While watching the golden bowerbird bower this bird came down , refused to turn round , and flew off as I tried to get in front of it ! Any ideas of what it is. Thanks alring

    Trying to get to grips with Gulls . Is this a juvenile Herring Gull? Nothing in the " Collins Bird Guide" seems to fit . Thank you for your help . alring
