NL Pure 8x32 and NL Pure 10x32!

I hope the eyebox is a little more forgiving in the 32mm version! Interesting that the FOV is smaller than the 42mm version, and this makes me hopeful. I gave up my NL 8x42. The orange armor screams “Look at me!” And then “Steal me!”

    Swarovski service, again

Swarovski of NA does always ask for a serial number. I’ve had no issues getting small parts. However, there are some dealers who sell extra objective covers, rainguards etc (if you want to just buy from a store).

Vortex Viper UHD beats Zeiss SF and Leica Noctivid!

Transmission numbers are just numbers and matter very little in real world use but a modern binocular built to compete in the premium binocular level using an Abbe-Koenig prism should give 93-94% transmission. The Vortex UHD is a “wow” effect binocular. The optical quality is alpha level. But...

Vortex Viper UHD beats Zeiss SF and Leica Noctivid!

The Viper UHD undoubtedly has excellent optics (despite the subpar light transmission for AK prisms... really a disappointment. What’s the point of using AK prisms when you’re only getting 88% transmission. Vortex is definitely using an inferior glass or inferior coatings here). What it loses...

Swarovski NL 8x42 - First Impressions

My biggest criticism isn't the glare (which I notice) but the ease of view or lack thereof. After being spoiled by the EL SV and its huge forgiving eyebox (eyebox meaning the range of positions in which I get an uncompromised view), the tradeoff of a very finicky eye placement in exchange for...

    Sig Sauer Zulu9 MidwayUSA.Com Deals ?

500-600 bucks for a decent Kamakura is not a bad price to pay.

Swarovski NL 8x42 - First Impressions

Here’s hoping that Swarovski is listening to feedback and addresses the issue. I’m debating letting this lovely instrument go. It is almost perfect in many ways. I’ll have to give it a few more light outings and see.

Swarovski NL 8x42 - First Impressions

Even with playing around with cups, the eye placement is not as easy. What I’ve noticed is that the view when I’m using my eyeglasses is fantastic at the lowest eyecup setting. I can also move my eyes around a bit without blackouts. However, the eyecup setting that allows a full field of view...

Swarovski SLC is now morphing into the Kahles Helia S 42

Noticed that B&H had the SLC 8x42 WB priced at 1399. I wonder if this is discontinued pricing. Remember that the SLC-HD came in at a price of 2100 US dollars back in 2010, and about 2K with some discounting and when you factor in inflation, the price of these instruments have really come down...

    Wearing binoculars while biking

It sounds like you want a harness (like hunters use). It’s the easy way to have very fast access to your glass. At the top would be Kuiu or Marsupial. Quality on a budget is Vortex.

Updated Swarovski Range and CL pockets.

I thought it was the Swedes who say there’s no such thing as weather too cold. Only inadequate clothing. Anyone who wants 8 ounce binocs have the option of the Leica 8x20 ultravids. Amazing optics in a tiny package.

Swarovski CL companion 8x30 question about light gathering and eye relief

I love the view through the CL 8x30 version 2. What I hate are the tiny eye cups. Can’t be avoided in such a small bino. It is a premium bino. Worthy of the Swarovski name.

    Another Leica Service Experience...

I’m not a Leica devotee. But the Noctivid is the best overall binocular I’ve looked through even when taking into account off-axis coma.

    Another Leica Service Experience...

I dont want to send my binoculair every year to swarovski to have a new armouring fitted) Leica armouring has always been better and durability at best. A great excuse to buy a spare binocular! :). Ok, that is truly a luxury but I have to say the build quality on the Noctivid is A+ top...

    Another Leica Service Experience...

Leica is the only major Sport optics manufacturer that I will consider buying new. This is why. There are still discounts to be found for new binos from authorized dealers even with the fantastic Noctivid. I only buy second hand with Swaro or Zeiss. Let someone else take the depreciation...
