Birds in real bad storms: where do they go?

Hi crazyfingers & all, It's been ages since I last posted on BF, but since I live near the eastern coast of the USA, the subject of your question has always interested me. I have tried to link a previous thread (Hurricane Gustav '08) on this topic, but I'm not sure if my 'linking skills' are...

    DVD will not burn

Hi, It appears that you have already found a solution. I will just add that I found that some DVD's that wouldn't burn, would indded burn if I decreased the burn speed. It seems that some need to be burned at a slower rate. Best Wishes. :t: Ron Davidson

    hello

Hi lyn, and another warm welcome to BF (from North Carolina, USA). It also took me weeks (another technophobe), but now you (and I) know how to post. I look forward to reading some of your birding experiences and I hope that you will post again soon. You will find most people here to be friendly...

    Binocular ramblings

Tero, LOL! :-O Thanks for the great post...and for starting this thread. Like you, I also look forward to the day when 'you engineers' will finally be able to design bins that will indeed sastisfy our 'personal dream bin' needs. Best Wishes :t:. Ron Davidson

    newbie question

Hi Santi, A lot of good info and opinions has already been posted. I will just add that it does depend on the one using the bins. I have tried many roofs (including those models made by the 'top 3'), and I ABSOLUTELY prefer my Porro's (Nikon 10x42 SE). With that being said, I will most likely...

    Multi-purpose binoculars

Hi swamp_rattler, I hope that others will soon post with specific models...as I will just give you my opinion. I believe that 'astronomy' bins and 'sporting event' bins are completely different. For astronomy, many people opt for bins with higher magnifications (10x, 20x, and higher) and large...

    Nausea - Bushnell 8x42 H2O roof prism

Hi tim, If video games give you problems, and you suffer from vertigo (mentioned in a later post), then you may be able to become 'acclimated' to your bins...and possibly even video games. You might try adjusting to the bins by using them only for a minute or two, for several days, and then...

    Birds and Hurricanes

Hi jrwilton, Many of the seabirds do get out of its path. Unfortunately most of the shorebirds and vitually ALL of the 'birds in general' tend to 'hunker down,' and are in for 'THE MOTHER OF ALL BEATINGS!' :-C. Most just simply won't make it through several hours of hurricane force winds and...

how far will hummers travel to a feeder?

birnam, thanks for sharing that great video! I can see why you are going through so much 'nectar.' The amazing thing to me is how they can still hover on such a windy day, as I can see the trees really being whipped around by the wind. Hummers are one of my favorite birds, but I have never had...

    Carolina Wren SE United States

Hi bhowdy, I agree with you and KC...Carolina Wren. The calls and songs of the Carolina Wren are amazingly loud (at least to me) for a bird this small...very melodious and pleasant...but, LOUD. Great photos. Best Wishes.:t: Ron Davidson
