It was good to meet with you and Phil, Mike. Your photos are great, super portrait of the Audouin's and the Yellow Wag. Out of the hundreds that I took I only saved a handfull, hardly worth carrying all that gear around. So here are a few, the Yellow Wag is very similar to yours.

Great photos of the Purple Sandpiper Pep. I went there first thing this morning, but failed to find the Sandpiper. Good to meet Daniel there too. But I did find 2 Turnstones and finally caught up with a Slender-billed Gull by the bridge at the entrance to Albufera, managing to get many close...

    Mallorca 2021

Thanks Mike, but there are lots of great bird photographers out there, and many that contribute to this forum. When I started bird photography, there was no automatic exposure or auto-focusing, and images were captured on celluloid film. Digital photography was a revolution, and the advances in...

    Mallorca 2021

I took advantage of a gap in the bad weather today and went to Maristany to look for Little Gull and Slender-billed. Didn't find either. Toni Soler arrived while I was there and told me there were 2 Slender-billed in the entrance to Albufera, and a Little Gull at the depuradora. I didn't find...

Thanks Mike, I see you have got to grips with your camera gear, you are producing some cracking photos! Hope to see you again soon, but judging by the the weather forecast I'll be keeping my head down for the next few days! Shame about the Bluetail. I was here when Christina found the last one...

    Mallorca 2021

I was at the Son Real Hide from about 10:00-16:00 but no sign of the Bluetail. Kevin was there before me and Pep arrived shortly before I left. Good to meet Mike Swiss at last. Only one Hawfinch in the trees, but lots of Goldfinch, Serin, Greenfinch, Crossbill, and Firecrest, Siskin, Song...

Thanks Mike, I only have one record for Spectacled and that was from Cuber. Maybe we were together for that one, it was 27th May 2011 ? You are right about jizz of course, and your identification points are outlined in the Collins guide, but I got fixated on the short primary projection. And as...

    Mallorca 2020

Thanks Mike, but what ID features am I missing? I don't have any great experience with Spectacled, but I double checked my Collins guide, and the extensive rufous on the wings, apparent short primary projection in all the photos and it's compact shape all point to Spectacled to me.

Impressive list again Gregor, your day list is bigger than my lockdown list. But I did have anoyher new bird today which I thought was a Whitethroat, but I'm now inclining towards Spectacled Warbler, it looks like it has a short primary projection. Any opinions anyone?

Only one new bird today, a Woodchat Shrike, and it looks like a nominate senator to me. Any comments appreciated.

    Mallorca 2020

Wow, some amazing birds are being found by some of you. Beautiful photos of the Subalpine, Gregor. Makes me envious, I'm obviously in the wrong place. Very quiet where I am, the highlight was 8 Bee-eaters flying over. I haven't seen any swifts yet, only a few Barn Swallows. It's nice to hear the...

Yesterday was good for raptors with a Black Vulture, Red Kite, Peregrine and several Booted Eagles. A Booted Eagle was harassing the Vulture, the photo shows the size difference. No wonder they call the Vulture a flying barn door!
