Product Review: The Extraordinary Svbony SV202 8 x 42 ED.

Thanks to Neil, I am now well equipped with Svbony SV202 models in 8x32, 8x42, and 10x42. All excellent performers. The angle for law of diminishing returns is just way too shallow to head into higher tiers. All told I paid $310 for all three. I'm simply so satisfied enough with the optical...

Binocular Evolution I: Field of View

I never would have considered something like this in the past... but wow. It's something to gaze up at the night sky and then use binoculars or a telescope to focus in on something of interest, but to take a kind of naked-eye style view and just double or triple the magnification while keeping a...

Ever seen a hawk devour a rodent, from beginning to end? If not, here's your chance.

I hate feral rats. Domesticated ones are pretty neat, though.

Product Review: The Extraordinary Svbony SV202 8 x 42 ED.

I bought both of my 8x32 and 8x42 SV202 binoculars from the Svbony store on AliExpress. They had better pricing than Amazon. They ran a special coupon campaign during the winter holiday and also around Thanksgiving time. I got my 8x42 for $118 shipped, then the 8x32 for $88 shipped. Shipping...

Product Review: The Extraordinary Svbony SV202 8 x 42 ED.

Good to know. I'll make a point of turning the eyecups gently, not giving them good solid flicks as I'd been doing (I like the visceral "click" when extending them).

Product Review: The Extraordinary Svbony SV202 8 x 42 ED.

I'm very curious -- what happened with the rubber of the eyecups in just a few months? At one point during my forum roving (might've been over at BF or Reddit) I saw someone mention the rubber covering of one eyecup separating from the metal underneath. Naturally, with a price point this low...

Product Review: The Extraordinary Svbony SV202 8 x 42 ED.

Frankly, if I was going to have only one set of binoculars, it would be the SV202 in 8x32. It's remarkable how closely they perform to the 8x42. Despite a 10 mm objective lens difference, the 8x32 is nicely bright. Swapping back and forth between the two... and I really don't notice much of a...

    Nikon vs Celestron

If you ever get the chance, try out the Monarch M5 or M7. Sometimes you can pick them up gently used for very good prices and you might be pleasantly surprised at the improvement over the Prostaff.

Celestron Regal ED 8x42 Mini Review.

Would be very interesting to see the Celestron Regal ED ($355 USD) compared to the Svbony SV202 ED ($120~140 ED). From all that was described, it sounds like they'd be very comparable.

Product Review: The Extraordinary Svbony SV202 8 x 42 ED.

Back in November I ordered a pair of SV202 in 8x42. I had been given a delivery date of late December, then remarkably 15 days ahead of schedule they arrived. Neil English wrote a pretty extensive review of this model and I found it to match my experience. So seriously impressed with them that I...

    Plea from Kent Police

I will never understand how a human being can have such hate and indifference in their minds to just take the lives of innocent and beautiful creatures. I wonder if it's a genetic predisposition. I once knew a family where one son was a "devil in the flesh." Nice parents. The other boy and girl...

Hello from Northeastern NJ, across from NYC

Hi Arthur, great to know you've spotted bald eagles. My location is across from the 80's cross streets. It's interesting to see bird flight patterns. I've spotted some who go sailing clear across the river. Usually they ride a thermal up high enough to make a good glide path across, but I've...

Hello from Northeastern NJ, across from NYC

Thanks for the welcomes! Good to hear that there are a few BF members not far from my location. The elevation is a serious advantage for large wingspan bird watching. There are nests scattered all about in the undeveloped patches of land that are scattered about. I hate to think of how much...
