    Thanks for this. The white bar below the eye is more defined on the Eurasian bird and the breast is paler so I'm thinking Eurasian matches my photos best

    This is my first siting of a Redwing and I'm not sure which it is, Eurasian or Icelandic. I'm in Northern Ireland so I'm presuming Eurasian but just checking. Thanks

    Eurasian Blackbirds?

    I didn't notice a yellow bill but apparently young males can have a dark bill for a while. I didn't know that. It was the heavy bill that threw me too but yes, it could be soil stuck to it I suppose. Thanks for all the responses. Very interesting. I'll have to go back and try and get some better...
