    Leica 8x20 Ultravid - Modified

Was this a red tester set for dealers?

    Leica 8x20 Ultravid - Modified

My Leica Ultravid 8x20 BR came with two eyepiece covers which attach to the carrying strap.

    Leica Spotting Scope Eyepieces

The APO-Televid 77 and Televid 77 eyepieces are the exact same. But do these old eyepieces fit the new 82 and 65 Televid scopes? I don't think so.

    Poor Leica Repair Service USA

The OP never mentioned what was wrong with his binoculars...

    New binoculars from leica

I'm not sure they can demand a sales receipt. Surely the warranty card should be more than adequate?

I've not seen an underside picture. Can anyone confirm if the Noctivid have thumb depressions or thumb horns?

    New binoculars from leica

I understand that the UK is Leica's biggest market for binoculars, mainly to the birding sector. That's why they chose to release the Noctivid at the Birdfair. I like the look of that binocular, but there is no way I can afford or justify it. I am really happy with my existing first generation...

Omid's innovation (split from 'new Leica binocular' thread)

That may be useful for a riflescope but not so much for binoculars. Extraneous light which adversely affects the view is dealt with very effectively by eyecups; it's not just about placing the eyes to fit the eye relief of the binocular, it's about providing the very best viewing experience.

    New binoculars from leica

The Swaro 8x32 is very nice - Leica could easily produce these and I think they would sell well. Higher QC would surely result in price increases. Do birders actually want heavy, stabilised bins? Zoom binoculars are an unhappy compromise.

    New binoculars from leica

An 8x32 Noctivid would be very sweet. It will probably follow the initial release of the 42mm models. Even sweeter but unlikely would be a Leica Noctivid 7x32. I would hope that there would be a 7x42 in order to live up to the nocturnal name.

    New binoculars from leica

Yes I agree. It's a cool name. Presumably they have the AquaDura coating. The fact that MADE IN is highlighted in white would suggest to me that these will be marked MADE IN GERMANY, else-wise it would be in a more discrete location, marked in black MADE BY LEICA PORTUGAL. I find myself...

    Leica UK Warranty Question

Is the warranty transferable to a new owner if you sell your binocular privately, assuming it was a genuine UK import?

    Leica Ultravid 8x20 BR

Hi Kimmo, I just looked again, and the flecks are very small and there are not a great number of them. Do you think the rotating plastic eyecup sleeve discrepancy issue is irrelevant?

    Leica Ultravid 8x20 BR

Thank you Gijs. Would a hammer do the job just as well? I take your point though - not to obsess about unimportant things.

    Leica Ultravid 8x20 BR

Fair enough re: objective covers/case for the Ultravid compact. Now, I hate to come across as obsessive, but here I go... I did something I knew I would regret with my new binocular: I looked through each barrel the wrong way at a light and noticed several specs of fine dust on each side...
