    Turnstone ?- Padstow, Cornwall - UK

    Hi all Can you confirm if this is a Turnstone? much darker colouring on the head than I can see in the books, but the beak doesnt look right for a Redshank either and these are only 2 I cn see with red legs. Photo taken end September in Padstow thanks in advance

    Corn bunting confirmation?

    We spotted this one on a fence last week as we were walking along the beach in South Uist. We identified as a Corn Bunting but also saw similarity for the Sky Larks - can someone confirm for us if this is a Corn Bunting?

    House Sparrows Avoiding Feeder

    Sparrows here absoultey love the fat balls- even with seeds out too they will battle it out with the Starlings for the fat balls.     Dunnock...on a feeder?

    I have a single Dunnock who comes in under cover with the Sparrows - doest stay long and hoovers up any seeds knocked on the ground from the Sparrows on the feeders.

    identifying birds or not

    I went on the RSPB website and they offer a free booklet on garden birds (posted within 2 days) - a few pages of the more regular visitors and some information on feeding / attracting etc. Excellant starting point whilst you decide which book you want to buy.

    Conwy RSPb Sunday 9th Aug

    Had a fabulous day at Conwy RSPB on Sunday - have to say that the hide volunteers are fabulous - its sometimes a bit daunting when you arent too sure what you are looking at (novice watcher) and wanting to ask - but the guys there are great at taking time out to help. My list for the day...

    Infrequent garden visitors

    Isnt it always the same - spend my time on here moaning I dont get other visitors - 2 days later the Goldfinch finally finds the Nyger seed. It seems patience does pay off :
