    Yesterday morning, I watched 3 Jays persistently mob a Buzzard, who had been perched quietly, minding his own business when he finally decided he'd had enough, and flew off. I could have sworn he shrugged his shoulders! Most Jays I've ever seen together at one time. David

    Dipper is fairly straightforward. I would recommend Monsal Dale early morning as being as near to guaranteed as it gets.     Sorry, the "Concise" that is promised in Nov is Fergusson Lees's "Raptors of the World". A fabulous book but does what it says on the tin, and hence weighs a ton. Forsman's Book covers Europe only. Sorry if my previous post wasn't too clear DDS

    Thanks to you all for your advice. I can't change the Leica/Manfrotto combo for sentimental reasons, and I think that the Mule or Scopac seems to be the best answer.
