thanks.....I couldn't ID it with Peterson's guide but had just flipped my Sibley's open right to the right page....speak of Duh.....either way it's a first Grosbeak for me!!!:t:- henry

I'm going to try to appreciate Blackbirds (even) more!
I was saving birding for retirement...something I would do when I was older...recently I injured myself at work and am spending my days recooperating with a pair of binos and my camera...I rarely if ever truly noticed nature as I do now. I have no particular favorite bird...they all seem to...- henry

I do have a digital camera an older Sony MVC-FD90 and have managed some very good shots but as I am learning my limitation with it, I find that there is a true need to zoom in on some birds for proper ID. When I use the digital zoom, as you know I loose quality...thought those combo binnos...- henry

OK...don't laugh, there's a bird out there with a distinctive call: whoo hoo.........hoo...hoo very quiet, like blowing through a woodwind instrument. I can't I.D. the bird because I don't know what I'm looking for????? Any ideas?- henry
