    Len, your sighting is highly unlikely in the UK. so would go with a Hummingbird Moth, an early evening creature

    Hummers are far more tolerant during migration, because they are not defending their territory.

    They have been Shot, Poisoned,fallen out of the nest,electrocuted, plus the Bottle caps,The area that they go to,when they are not being fed, is a Saturday night party place, so it is littered pretty well with bottle caps.     A Jay query.

    The only way that I have been able to tell the difference in my Scrub Jays, is in Spring, when one feeds the other peanuts that I put out for them, 'guess which one', plus the Juvies get sent out of town shortly after they fledge.
