    Purple or Rock Sandpiper, Svalbard?

There was a suspected one at Cley back in the 90s or something. Might have been in Birding World but can't remember for sure

    Chipping Sodbury Common

I was there yesterday morning too, and also mightily impressed with the place! I can add 2 Tree Pipits to your list. A decent visit to Ham Wall/Shapwick Heath area afterwards was paid off with Pec Sand, Glossy Ibis, Osprey, GWE's etc :t:

    Parhelophilus perhaps

Have posted the link on the facebook hoverfly group and had my thoughts confirmed that it's a female Parhelophilus. Is there any chance you can let me know grid ref and date it was taken so they can record it on the group, or do you I-record?

    Fly - Russia

Spelling has changed to E. intricaria recently, so I've been told :)

    Bumblebees, London WWT, 1st July

Are you on Facebook? There's an excellent bee ID group on there where I'm sure you'd get a definitive answer

    Bumblebees, London WWT, 1st July

Not sure on the one in the second post but I'd have thought the Buff-taled in the first post is more likely White-tailed given the very crisp demarkation between the black and white? The Tree Bumble is definitely right as is the Red-tailed

    Brown-banded Carder Bee in Cambs?

Ah fair enough, that was the only other option I guess :) In reply to the OP, lucorum wouldn't show the thin yellowish border at the base of the white "tail"

    Brown-banded Carder Bee in Cambs?

Common Carder Bee (Bombus pascuorum), Red-tailed Bumblebee (Bombus lapidarius) and Southern Cuckoo Bumblebee (Bombus vestalis)

    ID help please

It's some kind of cranefly rather than a scorpion fly. Hopefully someone else will be able to tell you the species

2 moths for ID, Hove East Sussex

Does look disturbingly similar to Horisme radicaria though.

2 moths for ID, Hove East Sussex

Many thanks chaps :t: It's the first time I've seen that form of LBAM :) Those Ferns on the Sussex Moth website do indeed look identical more or less P.s. Paul, unfortunately I don't still have it. Put it from the fridge to the table outside for some natural light photos, and the sod flew off...

2 moths for ID, Hove East Sussex

The first of these is confusing me, as to whether it's a waekly marked Small Waved Umber or a strongly marked Fern, or something else? The other I think is Cyclamen Tortrix? Both taken today having been trapped last night

Hybrid Med x Black Headed Gull?

This even more awful shot shows the completely white tail and no other immature signs on the wing, which I assume rules out an advanced 1st summer Med

Hybrid Med x Black Headed Gull?

Took this a couple of weeks ago at Pett Level in Sussex whilst simply trying to get a good range of plumage photos of Meds. This one stood out clearly in the field by being a 3cy with lots of black in the primaries and still some in primary coverts, but at the time that was as far as it went for...

    Extra limital BOP.....?

Having had a London Gos record accepted back in mid-late 90s (Brent Res), I don't get all this pessimism surrounding submissions in this thread. If you submit a decent, honest description, or photos that actually show a Gos, there's no reason it should be rejected
