    Ringed BHG On 30th April re final photo. Sunday 29th April at the Moors pool there was a nest-gathering BHG with a white ring 24HO. Is there any available history for this one?

    Barn owl quartering North Moors pool 16:35 - 16:45 before departing towards the tv masts. Came out of reeds in N. W. corner.

    Flashes pm c300 lapwing on and off, frequently lifted. Mostly because the heron on the far meadow (pic) kept relocating a few yards at a time. Lots of mallard, and the teal were looking spectacular. (We were told that the whooper swan was still at the Moors.) Happy New Year, Margaret and Phil

    Flashes pm Seven snipe found - probably more as the camouflage was particularly effective in that light. Two were almost in the same spot as yesterday on the left-hand island with the plastic on it. The five others were hunkered down at the far end of the peninsula and was a case of now you...

    Flashes pm. Buzzard post-hopping left to right from sewage works gate spent a lot of time emulating a cormorant, presumably drying its plumage. Seen an hour later on telegraph post by first flash doing the same. Suspect it had been hunting prey in the marshy areas.

    Flashes pm: Peek-a-boo......Cause and effect! 1. One of 2 herons keeping out of the biting north wind. 2 & 2a. Take-off flushed black-tailed godwit. 3 & 3a. Second heron followed flushing a snipe. I think I've thawed out now!

    Flashes: 1 & 2. 14:14, Marsh Harrier made a brief appearance over the 3rd flash. (snatched shots on wrong setting:C) 3. 15:30, A number of snipe came out to play. This one went for a swim.

    Short visit on a dismal afternoon. This sparrowhawk nipped out of the rushes twice and disappeared around the back of the hide towards the Salwarpe, but obliged us with a stop-over at 4pm. Very poor light by then... 1/20th second shutter!

    Last Friday & Saturday: 1. Ringlet butterfly (male & female by cuckoo hide) 2. Peacock caterpillar (west path Moors) 3. Black-tailed skimmer male (west path by bittern channel - a few briefly)
