    Tired swallow on wire

    One among couple of juvenile red-rumped swallows that were resting on the wires after being on the wings for a long long time. This one let me go very close. Almost full-frame shot..

    Three american avocets were having a nice time at Balboa Beach, So. Califiornia, inspite of the water being freezing cold. This one was standing a little away from the other two, hence got a good portrait.

    a bad idea (harmful for birds)... use a high-powerful flash to freeze motion...hence use a narrow aperture also..

    All tawnies i have seen have all primaries equally barred. this one had the first 3-4 primaries not barred on the inside half. The palish throat is also unlike tawny. and the fleshy gape is evidently NOT ending at the middle of the eyeball, but rather at the back end of the eyeball.
