    I was out exploring a wetland near Lockhart, TX when a couple of male Hooded mergansers flew by. I was able to get a pretty clear capture of this one.

    This broad-billed hummingbird is a rare bird for Central Texas. First sighted on October 10, this bird is a continuing resident in my backyard. Freezing temperatures last night, and he was up and at 'em this morning at the feeders. He perched in the sun for warmth most of the day.

    Broad-billed hummingbird, resident of my backyard in Schertz, TX since October 10, 2021. These hummingbirds usually live in Mexico or Southeast Arizona. He's either lost or saw my backyard on Google Maps and decided that's where he needs to be.
