    Mull in October

I'm visiting Oban with the family for a week shortly, mid-October. Were are the best places to look for WTE and Goldies on Mull? We'll probably only have a few hours on the island on one day. Are there any mainland hotspots nearby I can (almost) guarantee the to the missus she'll see them -...

Review by 'lalows2' on item 'ST20-60x80A'

I have 100mm version and dumped the zoom for the 30x eyepiece for seawatching. Beware the tiny screws that hold the tripod attaching plate to the threads on mine shredded rendering it useless I now use a bean bag which is fine on the seawall or in a hide. It is significantly worse in performance...

Marton Mere, Stanley Park and surrounding area

Some nice sightings there. All the Blackpool bird (and other wildlife) news can be found here http://www.blackpool4me.com/Blackpool4Me/Learning/ClubsGroups/BEATNatureWatch/recentsightings.htm doesn't cover the dunes nature reserve but does cover the airport

    Kingswood pool Staffs gulls

Any ideas on these two? The 1st winter had a nice shawl and some well marked anchors on the scapulars. Handheld full zoom in dull light didn't help More pics of both birds here http://www.lalows.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/the-chase-is-on.html Many thanks

Thanks for the responses guiys Seems like it's not that common then, but very widespread; two continents is widespread in my book! Cheers D

    Fuji XS_1 v Fuji HS 20 v Sigma 150 500mm

Thanks - I think they'll improve a bit over the next few months as I learn more about the camera and more importantly the light gets better which hopefully will help hide a multitude of sins. I got a Raynox 2.2 teleconverter (under 200 quid from Amazon) and it's a useful addition to the camera -...

c20 feet away hand held in the evening gloom under trees, minimal sharpening on PC - OK I know it's not a bird http://www.flickr.com/photos/69377540@N03/6941910205/

    Fuji XS_1 v Fuji HS 20 v Sigma 150 500mm

Had my HS20 about a month now and just starting to get to grips with it but what a crackin piece of kit for the money. I don't think it competes with my mates Canon and 500mm lens but its only a fraction of the weight and I can go down to super macro in an instant unlike him. Tried to steer...
