    Dumfries & Galloway

Try some of the forested areas for Goshawk, Forest of Ae for example. I also spotted Red Kite on the outskirts of Galloway Forest.

    Magpies - Nest building already?

I do like Magpies. Even though at times their appearance can be unfavourable in some quarters but we have one who regularly visits our yard where we have our horses, if he/she is not there we notice! In the last few weeks with all the snow the Magpie has been a regular visitor waiting with two...

    I Am Fuming

And what has lifes lessons now learned them? Nothing! That's the law of today when someone can get six months for missing Council tax and a Child Abuser can walk free. Our wildlife stands little hope. :storm:

    A late brood?

There is still one pair of swallows in the barn at our livery yard feeding young, I have been able to count 3 heads peeping over but there could be more, it is the first time I have seen a pair still feeding young around now, most of them fledged a wee while ago. Lovely photo by the way.

    Trapped Starling

Hi Kezza, I bought my new one from a local Garden Centre up here in Aberdeenshire, the metal lid is secured on to the hanging piece so that it cannot be unclipped like some of the plastic ones (like the one I used to have) and it pushes onto the top of the feeder, even if they dislodge the lid...

    Trapped Starling

Hi Kezza, I had exactly the same happen in my garden last year, an adult starling completely trapped upside down inside the fatball feeder. The starling had started to panic and had one wing and legs protruding from the cage. We had to cover the bird and feeder with a towel, lift it down, cut...

Strangest noise you have ever heard a starling make?!

Amazing birds. Best one I have heard was mimicry of a firework rocket, the 'wheeeeee' and then the explosion at the end as the firework explodes with every small bang and crackle imitated perfectly. They seem to be very good at imitating the alarm calls and some parts of the songs of...

    My favourite Spring pic

I don't know what else to say Pie, except that those pics are exceptional and I love the first one especially.

Everyone can be famous for a little while

Lovely photo of your Dunnock, Bill. I think they are under-rated little popstars who don't even like their photo taken! I have tried and better tried but mine seem to whizz and jerk out of view just as I press the button and I end up with a nice close up view of the ground. My Bluetits and CDs...

    Re-Truly Sickening.

I would sign petition after petition for this type of thing if I could but I have signed. It is heartbreaking and so distressing to see. I hope one day it stops.

    Strange?

Hello Pie, There used to be a Rook which visited our garden who had a deformity to his beak, very similiar to your Blue tit. He first started coming one winter and he used to hold a piece of food with one of his feet and then put his head down sideways to get the food into his beak. I took...

    Nothing Special

Nice photos Kits and I know whats up and hope 'whats up' had better start righting itself soon! I would have lost complete patience with myself! You are obviously doing better than I ever could, I would have probably posted around 500 piccies by now and sickened the life out of everyone on any...

    Strathspey Website

Lovely photos, loved the red squirrels, badgers, wildcats and the osprey. A bonus for me that he has horses in there too. Gorgeous site, thank you.

Where have all the boids gone?

Plenty boidies here. Garden is packed every morning with Chaffinch, House Sparrows, Starlings, Blackbirds and Coal, Great and Blue tits, Dunnock, Robin, Gold and Greenfinch, Tree Sparrows and Siskin and the Collared Doves who appear two or three times a day and a wee Wren. We have had well over...
