    Wearing glasses/spectacles whilst birding

Thanks all for the responses. I will probably get a pair of more distance-oriented varifocals that should improve on my current pair, but also persevere with no glasses and conveniently placed reading glasses in a pocket for as long as I can manage!

    Wearing glasses/spectacles whilst birding

Too much effort to do vocal recordings: I generally do complete species lists all the time, and my past 12 days produced 57 separate lists with up to 70 species on each: not enough hours in the day to do catch up with that! Surgery is an option...

I'm constantly making notes: the curse of eBird!

    Wearing glasses/spectacles whilst birding

I'm looking for some advice from those who use, or choose to not use, glasses whilst birding. Age is unfortunately catching up on me and I now need to wear glasses for close work. Whilst birding my distance vision is still excellent, but I can no longer comfortably see my notebook or phone or a...

    What has happened to BUBO

Hey folks, sorry for the BUBO Listing problems a few days ago. It just so happened that there were some server issues that arose immediately I had disappeared to roam around the western Himalayas without mobile network for a few days! Back down below 2000m I managed to get a 4G signal for a few...

    NE India in January

I'm a British birder living in India, and did a 3-week NE India trip last year. A little bit later than you at end of March/April, but visiting the main areas (west to east) in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh of Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary, Nameri National Park, Kaziranga National Park and Mishmi...

    external microphone

I second the recommendation for the Field Recorder app for Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.pfitzinger.rec&hl=en. It's very comprehensive so takes a while to understand, but you can then set it up very quickly. The configurable length pre-record is very useful when you're...

Hi Adrian I live in India and will be coming to the UK at the end of August. I can get them for you here and post them to you from the UK if you like. You can reimburse me in GBP. Email me at [email protected] if this works for you.

    Birding Kashmir

I was in Kashmir last month, although not specifically birding. Security is strict but not a major issue any more and there are lots of tourists, predominantly domestic, but it is not easy at all to get away from the main tourist areas. I did visit Shankaracharya Hill, Sonamarg and the Aru...

    Iora Help

This is a female Common Iora: the greenish tail without obvious white is a giveaway. Marshall's Iora does occur in SE Sri Lanka, rediscovered there in 2006 after 50ish years. It's also been rediscovered in various parts of S India too, where it can be locally common (and does co-occur with...
