Ricoh CX3 quick burst, focus, and luck

I like the 5 fps full-resolution continuous shooting mode of the Ricoh CX3 for two reasons. 1. It lets me do a sort of focus bracketing effect. I start the burst mode, and then while the camera is clicking along I gently turn the focus wheel on the telescope, from blurry-too-close through good...

    New Compact camera

I'm also upgrading from F30. I'm going to try the Ricoh CX3 for (a) higher resolution LCD, (b) "final 15" high-speed continuous shooting mode I'll let you know when it arrives, whether it will work with a F30 adapter. I never got really good focus using the F30, and it's damaged anyway from...

Burst mode, "Final 10" (or last 5, or 15) - - which compact p&s has it?

Ricoh cx2, cx3 The Ricoh CX2 / CX3 seem to have the best in this regard. 5 fps continuous at full resolution, and it saves the last 15 frames (3 full seconds) . Very nice.

Burst mode, "Final 10" (or last 5, or 15) - - which compact p&s has it?

My old Finepix has a "Burst Mode, Final 3" - - you hold down the shutter button, it shoots 3 frames per second, but discards most of them. When you release the button, it saves only the last 3. I'm looking for a compact P&S that has this feature. Examples of NOT having the feature: Sony WX1...

    autofocus, fine adjust, presbyopic . . .

Thanks . . . the loupe looks helpful . . . do you know if any auto focusing compact cameras have ? (My F30 needs to be replaced anyway, b/c of internal damage causing dark spots on the final photo)

    autofocus, fine adjust, presbyopic . . .

I have a focusing problem. 1. Autofocus fail The autofocus (Fuji F30) generally does a pretty poor job - - especially when it decides to focus on a tiny twig in the foreground, instead of the huge bird beyond the twig, but also with a clear unobstructed view the autofocus is bad. (This is w/ a...

    SRB-Griturn Universal Adapter

Are you sure you haven't been shooting all your pix in MY back yard? Those are some mighty familiar looking critters.

How far away is your subject?

Mapquest.com has a fresher satellite image, which I was able to graft on top of the google image, so now I can measure all my backyard sightings. Amazing.

How far away is your subject?

Brilliant. (unfortunately I can't use it as my street, house, fence, and even pond did not exist 3 yrs ago and their satellite images are 3+ years old. Still - - eventually they'll update and your idea will work)

    SRB-Griturn Universal Adapter

Fuji F30 I do use the cable. It can induce a bit of wobble if you're not very careful. Using the 2-second delay is a reliable remedy. No newsworthy birds around here since the adapter arrived, but I did take these photos just to test. These were both near dusk, and the Robin fairly far away and...

How far away is your subject?

Interesting calculator, but I certainly don't know enough to be able to use it. Rather than figure out my Bayer Mask and my Rayleigh factors, I might as well just measure some standard distances and build my own custom calibration system.

    SRB-Griturn Universal Adapter

SRB Griturn - recommended Add me to the list of purchasers who are highly pleased with the SRB Griturn adapter (Swaro zoom), for ease of setup and use.

How far away is your subject?

How far away is your subject? And how can you tell? I know that "the tree just beyond the path over the fence" is medium far, and "the reeds at the corner of the pond" is further - - but have no idea whether that tree is more like 50 or 100 metres - - etc . Walking to it in a straight line...

    Bravo SRB Griturn!

No surprise to regular readers here, but another voice of acclaim for SRB Griturn. Those guys should win some sort of design prize. (I have the version for Swaro 80 HD zoom)

    Fuji F30 frustrations - focus, fog/flare, flakeyDriver

A handgun carrying case would probably do well. I realize this may be harder to find on your side of the pond. Over here in the colonies we have two or three gun stores on every block.
