    Island Hill, Near Newtownards As the tide was rising today Brent geese, black tailed godwit, golden plover were all resettling themselves. Good views of 30 grey plover arriving to roost on the Island Hill shore.

    I camped on Rathlin in 1973 and couldn't sleep for the corncrakes calling all night!! However I don't think there are any nowadays and August would be very late anyhow. I'm sure Rathlin would make a lovely spot to visit in late summer!

    Hi Richard My niger feeders had a pair of redpoll today, a flock of goldfinch which prefer the sunflower hearts this cold weather. Also a pair of greenfinches which don't appear very often and best of all a pair of bullfinches on a blackthorn busily feeding on something...not sure what though...
