Halloween Post: The Return of the Rolling Ball Effect!!!

Hi, I have experienced this whenever I tried Swarovski bins, I have stuck with Leicas with no issues ever. I also suffered from the same effect when using a Questar scope but believe that was due to the reverse image? I am susceptible to sea sickness and some travel motion discomfort so I think...

    Upgrade to Swarovski EL?

I can't use Swarovskis as they give me motion sickness! So always try before you buy! I have Leica Noctovids, no problems whatsoever. Regards Neil

Best place to see Tigers in India?

I would recommend Bandhavgarh, we spent 10 nights there and had the most amazing experience. Of course its a long way from Dehli but well worth it. Regards Neil

3 x Peregrine Falcons in Warwick

4 Young fledged in Leamington Spa this summer and there used to be birds in the church tower in Warwick, but not heard if any breed there for a while? So possibly Leamington Young? Neil

ID Handbook of European Birds at Bird Fair

Agree John, in fact I thought that they were hardly promoting it, as tucked away on the side of their stand! Noted some American passerines included. Good book especially if ordered before the end of July to obtain the discount. Neil

Red-footed Booby Bishop Rock Lighthouse, Scilly

Great pics John, Seahorse definitely gave us a brilliant trip with the Cory's raft after we left the lighthouse. Neil

    First time noctovid user

100% agree with you Matt, I also had the opportunity to acquire a used pair in hardly used condition. I am a Leica man anyway as I can't use Swarovskis but upgrading from my original HD Ultravids to these is worth it IMO. Will I upgrade again, who knows? Neil

Leica is not getting the attention it deserves

Swarovskis literally do make me sick! Even trying them for a brief view makes me feel queasy. Whereas I am on my third pair of Leicas. This shows even the best made most highly rated bins do not suit all as there is nothing worse then buying a very expensive optic without a thorough testing...

Birding in Norfolk over Xmas 22nd-29th Dec 2013

How about Holkham Gap and Holkham Hall grounds, very bracing in the winter and should be good birding on the saltings and possible sea duck rafts etc?

Rare and Scarce Birds in Warwickshire

I would like to question what an Oxfordshire based bird club is reporting on Warwickshire breeding birds and why the news was even published in the first place? I realise Red Kites are no big breeding news but shouldn't this info have been released via the Warwicksire recorders? Neil

    Accomodation query Scilly this Autumn

To rent a self catering apartment on your own for 3 weeks will be very expensive. If you can find a place to share with other birders that will work out the best value (we pay £108 per head for a week , but this is with 5 sharing the £540 total cost) also combined with the fact that you are...

Uk400club 'list Of Lists' Etc Etc

Re DPA Well that is an old opinion dated 2002. All I am offering is a recent opinion based on latest criteria. I am not going into this any more as its not worth the effort!

Uk400club 'list Of Lists' Etc Etc

Regarding the DPA and it legality re the UK400 list. There is a self check list on he ICO.gov website and you will find that Hobbies are included as part of one of the questions and then a set of criteria regarding the use of the data. I completed the check list with my DPA Officer in our...

It should be October 7th 1999 going on 2 days early to the IOS for the Sibe Thrush (having seen White's the previous year on Lewis) and then ticking the Short-toed Eagle and Upland Sand. But for pure jaminess it has to be the the Veery October 13th 1999 St Leven. Standing next to LGRE at...
