    Kowa BD-XD 8x42 vs. Viper HD 8x42?

They look identical to me. I would go with the Vipers because I like Vortex as a company and am not very familiar with Kowa. Their spotting scopes are excellent but that's all I know. CameralandNY has the Zeiss Conquest 8X as demo units from 450-750 depending on the specific model. That is the...

    New line of Meopro's

Two weeks. Seriously I don't know, best thing would be to email someone like cameraland. As far as price goes don't the 8x32 euros retail for about 700-800 and the meopro 8xs 400? They are probably figuring this will be about 550-600 retail so right in the middle of those offerings.

    Vortex Diamondback 8x42

Vortex has done a very good job of offering optics at every price point and the diamondbacks are no exception, not to mention they have a no-questions-asked warranty so if your kids break them or whatever you get a new pair. They aren't equal to, or better than, the Vipers, Conquests, or other...

    Vortex Viper 15-45x65 (non-HD) - opinions?

I would like to hear an answer to this as well, hopefully someone will chime in. If it's made in Japan then it should be a deal worth jumping on while they can still be found.

Help me choose my first binoculars!

I'd get the 6x Yosemite or the Vortex ones (the porro style, I want to say Raptor). They're the only cheap binoculars I've tried that actually work.

    Viper HD vs Talon HD

I know this thread is a month old but: The Viper is made in Japan by Kamakura, Talon is Chinese. While the Vipers might have a slightly narrower field of view the built quality and glass quality are both better. I've looked at a lot and unless I find a deal on some Meostars or Kahles I will be...

    Meopta 6.5x32 MeoPro

I'm happy with mine as well. Lately I've been trying to find a deal on a set of 10x binos and unless I spend near a grand I can't get anything with a noticeably better image than these meopros. These things are a steal.

    McKinleys versus Hawthorns

That's interesting. I recently went through this with a dealer I buy from and one of the things he mentioned was that Leupold was moving everything to China. The BX-2 Acadia and Mckinley were the ones he mentioned, the Hawthorne I thought was LOW Phillipines factory but who knows. Really that...

    McKinleys versus Hawthorns

All leupold bx- binoculars are Chinese, they have a deal with a Chinese firm to produce everything. IIRC the last Leupold binos made in Japan were by light optical and the Pinnacles and Katmai. They also made the Cabela's Alaskan Guide which I thought was nice when I looked at it, like a Vortex...

    Meopta 6.5x32 MeoPro

You're right it is a nice little bino, certainly better than everything else I looked at for 200 or so dollars. I have mixed emotions on the case and strap though, I will try and post pics of what I got but I am not sure I'd call it wool. One thing it does come with as a camera adapter for an...

    Meopro 6.5x32

The MeoPro 6.5x32 Binocular from Meopta may become a benchmark in lower magnification and wide optics. It claims excellent resolution and neutral color presentation capture. It is a good binocular choice for viewing birds, butterflies or for anyone who wants a compact, bright binocular. Thanks...

    Leupold Pinnacles

I don't see how they'd be worse than anything else on the market for 400 or 500 dollars. They were OEM'd by Light Optical out of Japan and backed up by Leupold so you know the warranty will always be good should you need it.

    Meopta 6.5x32 MeoPro

I emailed Meopta asking where all the parts came from and this was the response: "The vast majority of our components are European. The internal mechanical parts as well as the prism are Czech made and we use German Schott glass, which is ground; polished; and coated in house, here in the US...

    Meopta 6.5x32 MeoPro

Hi I found this thread via Google. I purchased this same binocular and have similar thoughts on it. Mine were bought specifically for hunting, I wanted something with wide field of view and good image quality so as not to get tension headaches when glassing large fields. Plus I always wear...
