    Aquatic warbler?

Been through the Buntings in the Collins bird guide, none match what I saw. The picture on p291 showing the adult summer plumage (the plumage was very striking, nothing vague) this looks like the bird I saw. From the hide it was about 12ft away and I mainly saw the head and back. Again I...

    Aquatic warbler?

I am not familiar with the Sedge warbler, but that was my first guess. But the distinct wide head stripes did not seem to tie up. But if it's eating habit is incorrect then back to Sedge warbler. Thanks for the information. Although my Collins bird guide shows the thin head stripes and the...

Thanks for your efforts. There seems to be a pair, but they may be using this only as a stopping off point on their migration.

Comment by 'Guest' in media 'Where's mum'

I have nicknamed the bird 'loopy'; REASON sitting on a fence sunning itself and squawking all day long is not the best stealth hunting technique i have ever seen. dave culley emailed saying, it is looks healthy, the parents are giving it lees food forcing it feed for itself. Also they can be...

Comment by 'Guest' in media 'Where's mum'

I can get within 1 metre, I have rung RSPCA and their voice message indicates that they are only interested in sick and injured birds. It flies short distances 40-50m reasonably well. Not convinced about being able to look after itself. Would appreciate replies is someone thinks this needs...
