    Your Most Recent "Life" Bird

I saw my first Northern Shoveler yesterday! Not too exciting, but I instantly recognized it because I've been wanting to see one for some time now.

Ever had a scary incident with a bird ?

It wasn't too scary, but it intimidated be a bit. There's a pair of Chinese geese and a pair of Shetland geese that hung out at this park I visited frequently. They were very territorial and would approach you if got too close. I parked near them and they started coming near me. While I was off...

    3 Birds in Arizona

Hey all, I need some help again if you don't mind. These three were photographed in Southern Arizona and have been rattling my brain for a bit and I've searched quite a few places to identify them. The photos are at their highest resolution, just cropped out to save on space. Bird #1 - I...

    Visit

Very cool! Did you see a lot of birds in the Grand Canyon? Seeing a California Condor is on my bucket list, but apparently they are even rare to see in the places they live.

    Pyrrhuloxia - Shy birds?

Hey there all, For birding, I like to take photos of the birds I encounter. I usually have no issues with birds, since most are either scared away but return when they see I'm not a threat, or land by a nearby tree to rest. One bird that I seem to have trouble capturing in the camera is the...

Cool bird spots to check out?

Oh wow thank you all for your wonderful insight! I'll be sure to save these replies when I go scouting for new bird places. Also, I've had a few encounters with Pyrrhuloxia before. I've never been able to get close enough to get a good picture of them though. Are they cautious birds by nature...

    Cactus Wren? - ID Help

I saw this guy today in SE Arizona and thought it was a Cactus Wren. Looking closer at the head though it has a pretty short bill and darker eyes than the usual Cactus Wren I see. What do you all think? Maybe just a juvenile Cactus Wren? Maybe a Creeper? Thrush? Thanks again!

    Frustrated

Did you post in the Say Hello section yet? There are a few things you have to do before you can post pics, etc. I believe. I'm a new user too (see post count) but I just recently was able to get an avatar! Maybe give it another shot and post a bit more in order to get access to more stuff, and...

Cool bird spots to check out?

Well I did end up checking out Sweetwater Wetland Park! Cool area, lots of fun birds to see. I saw the following (bolded ones are ones I hadn't seen before): Common Gallinule American Coot Ruddy Duck Mallard Duck (these guys are everywhere) Double-Crested Cormorant an un-identified Cormorant...

4 Birds to ID - Arizona

Thanks guys! Yes sorry the pictures aren't the clearest, and the foliage and distance don't help. I'm starting to realize that I need to take more photos, especially ones that are clearer and get different views of the bird. I have more of #6. I noticed that the way the photos were taken could...

4 Birds to ID - Arizona

Bird #3 - I honestly can't tell what kind of Flycather it is. I've seen him around my usual spot, so I'll get better pics next time. Bird #5 - I think it's a Curve-billed Thrasher, but it has a dark spot around it's eye. Bird #6 - I have no idea, I can't find anything in my books about it.

4 Birds to ID - Arizona

Sure! Finally got around to getting them. The pics are at their highest resolutions, I just cropped and expanded the images of the birds. Bird #1 - I think it's a Rufous-winged Sparrow like rkj said.

Cool bird spots to check out?

I'm very new to Arizona and wanted to check out some cool spots for birding. So far I checked out: Sweetwater Preserve Catalina State Park I only saw like 1/4 of Sweetwater Preserve and a small trail in Catalina State Park. I want to check out the Sweetwater Wetlands Park. I need to be better...

4 Birds to ID - Arizona

Thanks all! I appreciate the help! Yeah that Starling was confusing me, I especially appreciated that ID! Here are some better pictures of bird #3. I didn't realize I got some back shots of him, my bad. Once again the photos aren't that great of quality so sorry about that. I also added 2...
