Help, please... need solution to keep nest safe!

Looks like a Dunnock nest Unfortunately you will have to leave it alone and let nature run it's course or keep your cats in for 3 weeks. its an offence to move or destroy the nest under the wildlife and countryside act.

    Falmouth Birding

Thanks Warren - That's actually my study area so i think it's mistaken ID for Dunnock or something. I've been there every day this week inc all morning yesterday and today. Whitethroat usually arrive in about a fortnight. I'm also dubious because it's the first report of the species in the...

Recommendation for a new bird watcher

    Falmouth Birding

Where were the Whitethroats seen? I've pounded that place relentlessly for the last week nest recording. No sign of Whitethroat there for me yet. Early for them usually around the 20th April with Sedge Warbler. No Swallows there yet either.

    Rookery monitoring

Do what you've done. Most of the nests if not all will be this years anyway. Winter gales destroy most nests. All my Rookery counts are carried out just by walking through and counting the nests. Keep a record year on year. I re-visit and re-count every two weeks starting from January when they...

Recommendation for a new bird watcher

http://shopping.rspb.org.uk/books-media/reference-books/rspb-handbook-of-british-birds-3rd-edition.html To be honest if you are just beggining i would try the RSPB book above. Yes, the Collins guide is the best but absolutely deadly in the wrong hands......

    Natural World-Heligan..Secrets of the Lost Garden-Thurs 12/4/2012 20.00-21.00pm BBC2

This is a repeat Kathy. I found it quite boring to be honest. More to do with gardens than wildlife although the shot of the line of twitchers waiting for the Green Heron to show reminded me why i dont twitch. Plenty of missed opportunities to educate people about the wildlife in the place...
