    New Ivory-billed Woodpecker info

I should also point out it’s amazing Bobby Harrison got any video at all. I have to study it more, but I’m ot sure what else it might be. Nevertheless you can see simply by watching the video how fast and elusive most birds are in that scenario. Yes, I wish he would upgrade his camera, but when...

    New Ivory-billed Woodpecker info

Agree, well-said. There are too many people who haven’t made in-depth searches in that habitat making comments as though they are fully aware of all the facts surrounding the Ivorybill. We simply don’t have the ability to thoroughly cover the entire former range of the bird and it’s habitat...

First North Korea public birding trip!

Yesterday was the launch of what may be the first public birding tour of the DPRK (North Korea). Below links contain the information. The "nearly lost" Tristram's Woodpecker, as far as I know a subspecies of the White-bellied Woodpecker, inhabits remote areas of the DPRK (North Korea). For what...

    Ivory-billed Woodpecker (formerly updates)

I probably shouldn't dive back into this thread, but it's been so long, why not: I would have normally agreed with you about the extirpation of the IBWO in the US, except for the following: In my opinion, it is not possible that dozens of qualified individuals/experts all mistakenly identified...

    Still alive too ;)

Unfortunately TRE, you're wasting your time on this forum. I have called for the closure of this thread several times. A counter point was made recently that this debate is still enlightening. After reading the past 2 pages of utter nonsense that counter point is simply not true. Moderators -...

How is calling for a thread closure premature? If you review 1% of the history on this thread you'll see it's same talk from the same people 99% of the time. Now that's tiresome. A long while back, a lot of good people made the choice to stop giving their input because of a few people on here...

    Ivory-billed Woodpecker (formerly updates)

This is a funny post. So now the issue is getting multiple photos? What happens if only one is obtained because the bird flees? No good then? Never satisfied. On your second point, multiple sightings HAVE occurred and yes, by multiple experts, and yes again, more than once.

Missing the point. If that photo took 9 minutes then you can imagine that a darn good job could be done by somebody trying to profit from this, someone who spends 2 hours, 2 days or 2 weeks on it. So where does that leave us with regards to the "proof" you demand?

    Ivory-billed Woodpecker (formerly updates)

Here you are. Photo taken last spring. Remember my argument though - pretend this is the final point that all you skeptics are hoping for. <pause>. Now, has anything changed? If you say yes, you'd be wrong because it's a fake photo. If you say no, then back to square one. That's why after a few...

    Ivory-billed Woodpecker (formerly updates)

The photo requirements that skeptics demand are bogus. In my early posts I faked an IBWO photo in 9 minutes to prove a point. A photo won't stand up to anything, and guaranteed that even if a photo is obtained, if it's not worthy of a cover page, nobody here will be happy. It's the nature of the...

    Ivory-billed Woodpecker (formerly updates)

Agreed on the latter, but you're still avoiding my point: This isn't ONE reputable scientist. This isn't ONE location. This isn't ONE time. I may have accepted the Allwood, Turner, Maclean & Cornish Exile IBWO point of view that has been stubbornly strong of this forum for 2 years had the...

    Ivory-billed Woodpecker (formerly updates)

An invalid argument. It is not likely that little ol' Snowy from Montreal could be using better techniques and judgement than America's (and the world's, for that matter) top scientists. I still have yet to hear, despite years are talk on this forum, a good argument that addresses this point.

    Ivory-billed Woodpecker (formerly updates)

I would have agreed with your points had there not been so many sightings by experts in more than one region. When I'm in the field, I won't identify a bird unless I'm absolutely positive of what I've seen. That's why (so far) the fleeting glimpses of large woodpeckers I've seen in AR I...

    Ivory-billed Woodpecker (formerly updates)

Are you guys kidding? Do you really believe that dozens at Cornell and Auburn are 1) making this all up or 2) so unqualified that identifying an IBWO instead of a PIWO was all they could do? Is that seriously what you think? That, in my opinion is far more unlikely than the IBWO surviving into...
