    Mallard Female?

    I'm not very experienced in bird terms(I actually only joined to ask about a bird's nest; already found my answer), but it could just be that the person who corrected mattdavis1979 is used to referring to manky Mallards as mankies(mankys?), as it seems like a shorter and more convenient...

    Cut down a tree, found a birds nest. Now what?

    Nooooooo it is too late now but if someone else is in the same situation and the original nesting place is salvageable, they should make a nest out of tissue paper or a hand towel (not toilet paper as it could get caught around the babies' legs and injure them) and call a licensed wildlife...
