    French Alps Info Plz

Hi all, Staying at Bourg Saint Maurice in late August and would love to know the best spots in the area for a few different species. Ideally I’d like to get Lammergeier, Wallcreeper, Rock Thrush, Nutcracker, Rock Partridge, Alpine Accentor and perhaps Black Vulture if they are still about down...

    Crete - Lammergeiers?

Thanks very much, I did forget to mention that when we will be staying, which is the 10-21st July. I suppose there are probably a few less birds at that time of the year compared to spring when there are passage birds? I think Lasithi in particular is pretty close to where we are staying so...

    Crete - Lammergeiers?

Hi all, I thought this would probably be a better place to put it as I didn't have that much success on the bigger forum. I'd love to know where to find them. We will be staying near Selekano (South -Eastern Crete) and I wondered whether they are perhaps in that area. Also any places...

    Crete - Mid July

Hi all, Just wanted to get some info on good sites in Crete. We should be staying in Selekano which is sort of the South East of the island. I have heard there are around 25 Lammergeiers in all on the island and I was just wondering where is the best for them. Also any info on good places...

    Black Grouse North Wales?

Thanks v much, it means a lot to have this much input from others, after this one question I'll definitely wrap this up! So is World's End the only real place to see Black Grouse in N Wales? Are there none left anywhere on or around Snowdonia? Hen Harrier would be awesome, last one I saw was on...

    Black Grouse North Wales?

Hi again guys, I've just read on the 'visit Snowdonia' website that black grouse can be found around the Coed-y-Brenin forest. Does anyone know if this is true? Cheers, Tom

That sounds like a good bet, is he not on BF? Then I suppose email would be the best way of contacting him. Cheers, Tom

    Black Grouse North Wales?

Black Grouse Hi there, Thanks very much for that info, very useful. As for the Black Grouse, I don't suppose you know any of the spots, or know anyone who does? Obviously I would use the info with complete discretion so it would be fab if you could PM me. This is a lot of your time so I'm...

    Black Grouse North Wales?

Hi all, We are staying in the Snowdonia National Park for 7 days in a couple of weeks time (20th - 27th August) and having checked out a few websites i have come to realise that Black Grouse is a very real possibility. I wondered if anyone could help me out on good areas at this time of year...

    Raptor Sp. French Pyrenees

Thanks a lot for all your help with this ID, it seems as though Griffon is most likely. Cheers, Tom

    Raptor Sp. French Pyrenees

Would certainly be good to know if that is the case, it's just that over the period of us being there I saw dozens of Griffons and this (suspected) one seemed very different to the others. As is clear though it's obviously very difficult to nail down from this one picture. Cheers, Tom

    Raptor Sp. French Pyrenees

Yeah that was my first thought, but to me the tail just seems too long and a far cry from the short, stubby tail of most Griffons. The only other possibility is juv Lammergeier based of the tail length and wing shape, although it seems unlikely...

    Raptor Sp. French Pyrenees

This is a photo from a visit to the French Pyrenees and was taken very near to Pic Carlit and the Pyrenees Orientales. At the time I thought it was a Griffon Vulture but on closer examination it was clear that the tail was too long and the wings too narrow. I therefore took it to be a Golden...
