    Loch Garten Ospreys

Sorry Sandra but I got so swept up in the excitement that I completely forgot about the Capers, how could I? I wish! And thanks Paul. ;) Wendy

    Loch Garten Ospreys

Sorry if this is a tad rushed I've just got back from the centre, what a great day. We arrived and checked the update board to find out that EJ has indeed layed an egg. At 0750 Henry had incubated the egg for approx 10 minutes. The anticipation in the centre grew around mid-day as henry...

    Buzzard numbers

I was wondering....has this year been a particularly good year for Buzzards? The only reason I ask is because up here in Moray, I'm seeing Buzzards everywhere I look. Through the summer it was hard not to spot one, the most I saw was six together. Now through the winter I can't fail but to...

    Coaltits

My garden has been inundated with Coal tits this past week. It's been so much fun watching them squabble and chase each other, lovely little birds. I hope they plan on staying for the winter.

    Collared Doves.

I've had a pair of collared doves visiting my garden for the last year. I love having them (I've nicknamed them George and Mildred...how sad). They've become quite tame, feeding whilst I'm in the garden, and in no way have they bothered the other birds. I've not had any other CD's in the...

    Dogwalkers and Birding.

Well I'm a birder and a dog owner. I regularly go birding with my mutt, usually off the beaten track where she won't be a bother to anyone. I agree there are alot of inconsiderate dog owners out there, please don't tarnish us all with the same brush. The problem here is the owners not the...

    gulls and covids

There's a healthy population of Rooks and Herring Gulls up here, and they get along fine. I regularly have both in my garden, they rarely squabble but the few times that they do the gulls win. I witnessed alot of mobbing by the Rooks when they were nesting, but that's the only time.

    Grounded Swift

Well I thought there was only the one, but when I looked in the shoebox that I'd kept it in, there were 3 more of the horrid-fly things and loads of lice thingies. Honestly my skin was crawling all night, i can't imagine how the poor birds feel with that lot crawling all over them. :)

    Grounded Swift

Thanks Alan, I knew they had short legs but until yesterday I never realised just how short. Bluit - It certainly has made my day, week, month....I still grin like an idiot when I think about it.

    Grounded Swift

I had such a bizzare day today. We were having yet another wet day up here, when suddenly one of the most torrential downfalls started. I was looking at the rain out of my front window when I saw a bird come crashing down to the ground. The rain was so heavy that it swept the bird onto the...
