Description
The area covered by Europe is from Iceland in north-west to Portugal and Spain in south-west (including the British Isles), and east to the Ural mountains in Russia in north-east. The south-east corner is less well defined, but in terms of geography would include Greece, the part of Turkey west of the Bosporus strait, the Black Sea and through Caucasus to the Caspian Sea, from which there is a line to the Ural mountains. The uncertainties especially concern which of the countries in Caucasus are included and which belong to Asia. Notice that this area is different from the Western Palearctic which includes Africa north of Sahara and parts of the Middle East.
