Sexes are similar
Similar Species
Very similar to the Black-fronted Nunbird apart from the white to grey edging on the wing coverts. It is found north of the Amazon while the Black-fronted is found south of the Amazon.2
Distribution
Extreme eastern Colombia to Venezuela, the Guianas and northern Brazil.
A common bird of terra firme forest north of the river Amazon and east of the river Negro.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Moist lowland forests, understorey near water.
Behaviour
Breeding
They nest is a hole in the ground.
Diet
The diet includes insects like spiders, caterpillars and flies; also lizards.
Vocalisation
It is an extremely loud bird and can frequently be heard duetting or singing as a small group.2
