Identification
Similar Species
Indistinguishable from Pale-legged Leaf Warbler in look and call. Can only be separated by its song.
Distribution
Japanese Archipelago, Sakhalin and the Kuril islands of the Russian Far East. Likely to winter in Southeast Asia and may overlap its wintering range with Pale-legged Leaf Warbler. Confirmed to winter in Singapore when two individuals were heard singing the characteristic song of the Sakhalin Leaf Warbler at a forested patch in Dairy Farm Nature Park in March 2014.
Taxonomy
Formerly known as the Eastern Pale-legged Leaf Warbler, it was once considered a race of the Pale-legged Leaf Warbler (P tenellipes) of northeast China, Korea and the Russian Far East. However, experts now recognise P borealoides as a different species based on its distinct song and some fine morphological differences.
This is a monotypic species[1].

Temperate forests.
Behaviour
Diet
Usually forages for insects on the forest floor, sometimes climbing up low shrubs and vines to glean prey. May also be found in the mid-storey to canopy levels.
