Distribution
South America: found in Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela and Peru.

There are 5 Subspecies[1]:
- A. s. schistaceus:
- A. s. tamae:
- Andes of eastern Colombia and south-western Venezuela (Táchira)
- A. s. fumidus:
- Sierra de Perijá (Colombia/Venezuela border)
- A. s. castaneifrons:
- Andes of western Venezuela (Trujillo, Mérida and eastern Táchira)
- A. s. taczanowskii:
- Andes of central Peru (Huánuco and Junín)
Habitat
Andean cloud forest, observed at heights around 2500m asl
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists mostly of insects and fruit. They forage on the ground or up to 5 m above ground.
