- Blackish-brown face
Distribution
Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador.
Taxonomy
Six subspecies are recognized[1]:
- T. v. sclateri:
- West Andes of Colombia (Cauca and Nariño)
- T. v. magdalenae:
- North Colombia (subtropical Magdalena Valley in Huila)
- T. v. klagesi:
- Coastal mountains of northern Venezuela (Carabobo to Distrito Federal)
- T. v. tachirensis:
- Andes of western Venezuela (south-western Lara and Táchira)
- T. v. virgaticeps:
- Subtropical north-western Ecuador (south to Pichincha)
- T. v. sumaco:
- Subtropical eastern Ecuador (western Napo)
Habitat
Montane forests including cloud forest, mostly low to the ground. Found in rather high elevation.
Behaviour
Difficult to get to see.
Diet
Their main diet consists of invertebrates.
