Ptilinopus iozonus

Location: Taja, Papua

Identification

21 cm. Green plumage, large orange patch on the lower breast and belly, small lilac shoulder patch, pale yellow undertail coverts and a grey terminal band on the tail.

Distribution

New Guinea, Aru Islands and western Papuan islands.

Taxonomy

Habitat

Lowland rainforest, secondary forest and mangroves.

Behaviour

Diet includes fruit from forest trees, mainly figs.

1 egg is laid on platform of small sticks high in a forest tree.
