Cinclodes aricomae

Identification

20 cm. Dark chocolate-brown above, dark crown, dark, dusky tail with outer rectrices tipped pale. Buffy-white throat. Rest of underparts grey-brown with buffy-white mottling and shafting on breast and flanks. Dark wings with prominent rufous edging, forming wing-bar in flight. Large dark bill slightly decurved at tip.

Distribution

Peru and Bolivia.

Taxonomy

Habitat

Polylepis woodland and montane scrub; the major threat to its survival is the use of fire and heavy grazing which restrict the regeneration of Polylepis.

Behaviour

Its diet includes invertebrates.
