Identification

Distribution

Andes of southern Bolivia and north-western Argentina (south to La Rioja)

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Until recently treated as a subspecies of Freckle-breasted Thornbird.

Habitat

Dry forests and high altitude shrubland.
