Identification

Distribution

Endemic to Halmahera, Northern Moluccas, Indonesia.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Was previously Halcyon funebris. The Sibley-Monroe spelling of the scientific name (Todirhamphus funebris) is incorrect. Clements and Howard & Moore both use Todiramphus funebris. More details in this discussion.

Habitat

Moist lowland forests, mangrove forests, swamps and plantations.
