New Lens vs Digiscoping
Get a lens with IS if you can, otherwise you'll be stuck on a tripod in low light. This shot was taken in bright light with a 400mm L NON IS hand held 1/2500 sec. at f8. (Crop sensor so 672mm effective f/l)- Mikbul

Image quality of a prime long lens worth it?
I now have a 5D markiii and a 7Dmarkii. Here's a shot with the 5D and Canon 300L IS. In the future I'll be using the 7D with that lens (1.6X crop factor)- Mikbul

EOS R8 or 5D IV?
7D Mark II for inherent crop factor. I have the 5DMKIII and the 7DMarkII. This photo was taken with the old 40D (crop sensor) and 400L. (640mm) -
R7 for bird photography and birds in flight
Have you tried sighting down the lens first instead of looking in the viewfinder? Are you sure you're on the bird or is the EVF lagging? Practice on everyday birds at home? -

Update on Canon 300L f/4 IS USM & teleconverters
Here are four test shots with no T/C,1.4X and 2X on aperture priority, spot A/F and spot metering @ 300mm, 420mm and 600mm. All are very good and no post processing. I see no C/A when cropped or extreme zoom but I do have the lens "correction" profiles loaded in the 5D MarkIII. Also the sun was...- Mikbul

If Nikon 70 -300 4.5.5.6 ..................744 grams The D3500 is only 415 grams Also image stabilized so no tripod needed. My Canon 300L is 1,180 grams lens only! My D5 Mark III is 955 grams, so about 1,000 grams lighter than my setup...- Mikbul
