    Visit

Just back from a fantastic visit to SE Arizona covering the 'usual' sites in the Sierra Vista, Green Valley, Tuscon and Portal areas with a short hop up to the Grand Canyon at the end. Finished the trip with a respectable total of 185 species, higher that I was expecting. Highlights were red...

Hi all I am heading out to you later next year for a couple of weeks birding and I am interested to see if there are any banding stations in the state I can visit. I am a bander in the UK and have done some banding on my last couple of visits to the States. Would someone be able to point me in...

    Visit advice

Hello all I am planning a visit this year and wanted to get some advice. Sadly, due to work commitments I can't make a spring visit so was thinking about the autumn. Was planning on mid/late august to early September, would this still be ok for hummers, red faced and olive warblers plus painted...

    Duck sp @ RSPB Titchwell

I initially identified this bird distantly on a WeBS count a couple of weeks ago as a garganey. The bird was feeding with teal before moving behind an island and I didn't see it again. The bird was slightly larger than the teal and the pale loral spot was very obvious at distance. The bird has...

    Wing tagged marsh harrier

I have recently seen a bird roosting in the reedbed at Titchwell RSPB reserve with green wings tags and a black A7. Looking on the colour ringing website there are no projects that this bird seems to fit. Has anyone out there got any ideas? Many thanks Paul

    Bird ringing/banding in Colorado

Hello Colorado birders/ringers, I am visiting Colorado in late May/early June on a birding trip and I would like to find out if there are any places where ringing takes place. I am a ringer here in the UK and it would be great to get some experience from the States. I already have a birding...

    Aytha hybrid?

Does anyone have an opinion on this bird. It was first seen at Titchwell RSPB at the weekend and reported as a tufty x ring necked hybrid and I saw the bird for the first time today. Although it is clearly not an adult tufty I am not sure why it isn't just a 1st winter drake? I know that there...

    Skua sp

Can anyone help with the ID of this skua seen on the beach at Titchwell RSPB reserve today? There was some debate as to its ID with arctic and pom being the suggestions. The bird was very 'light and agile' in flight and looked to have very small head and beak almost recalling a common gull...
