    I hate warblers! Chiffchaff?

Well, I love warblers but hate identifying them. I think this one is a chiffchaff, but I can't completely eliminate wood or willow warbler. For the time I was watching, it was silent!

    I hate warblers!

I've been going backwards and forwards with this one. It's a chiffchaff, wood warbler or willow warbler. But doesn't seem completely correct for any of them. Height 800 m, wooded farmland, Switzerland. September, 2020

    Camargue ... any ideas?

This guy was hanging out with a bunch of sedge warblers. But he doesn't seem to be one of them. Taken today (21.7.2015). Any ideas? Reedbeds with mainly warblers and flycatchers as friends. Thanks in advance Ed

    This one defeats me

On the French Swiss border near Basel. Marshlands. Low flying and behaved like a flycatcher. Initial guess something like a short toed lark but it isn't. Some kind of a warbler maybe, but it doesn't look like any that I know (or my books know) All help appreciated. Ed

    Amethyst deceiver in Switzerland

Hello, I think that this is the amethyst deceiver (Laccaria amethystea) but I wouldn't mind if one of you experts could confirm it. The colour is just fantastic. Mixed beech and conifer forest, about 600 m height, near Basel Thanks in advance Ed

I think this is an immature Egyptian grasshopper (Anacridium aegyptium) seen in the Camargue on buddlia. Any experts out there? Thanks Ed

    My favourite spider

I love this one, Argiope aurantia. He/she leaves a lovely zig-zag pattern in the web.

    Raptor expert please

Hi Folks, Can any of you experts help me out with this one? Taken in the Camargue in a relatively dry area (for the Camargue). There are both marsh and hen harriers in the area, but this doesn't look quite right. Unfortunately, I didn't catch him/her in flight. Thanks in advance Ed

    Any orchid experts, please

Hi all, I think this is an Irish Marsh Orchid (Dactylorhiza occidentalis). Location ... about 800 m height in the Juras, boggy pastureland. Amazing sight with something like 500 blooms. I always have trouble with spotted orchids .. can anyone confirm? Thanks Ed

    Willow this time, I think

Hi there, I've got a pair in my garden (Switzerland, 700m), I know that most of the willow/marsh discussions end up with the conclusion that they are marsh tits, I'm fairly certain these are willow tits. There is definitely no white mark on the bill...
