    Ron, That paint on rubber stuff that you used is what I was referring to in my earlier post. I can't recall the name of it either but it does work on tool handles. I guess I will check Lowe's and Home Depot. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions.

    There is a bit of room but not much. I was thinking of coating it with something, but I'm not sure of what to use. There was a product made that you could apply to the handles of tools to give a better grip. I've forgotten what it was called.
